I'm completely fascinated with mohop shoes (which I found via the Indie Fixx blog this morning). Why am I posting about shoes on a legwear blog you ask? Because of this photo found on Indie Fixx:
Proof that tights can be worn with almost any kind of shoe. I particularly love the blue ones with the ribbon winding up her legs and the silver ribbon/black tights combo on the right.
What do you think of this look? Do you think gladiators would work as a similar look? Or is it the ribbon that makes it great?

Nylons in Summer - Yes or No?
I found an interesting debate in the Wall Street Journal's Style section (via Coutorture) concerning wearing pantyhose to work. The article discusses a mid-western credit union where female employees are required to wear hose to work (even with pants) and the changes that younger employees are trying to make with this rule.
The Coutorture article speaks more to wearing nylons despite these hot summer months, as well as their renewed interest in shimmery nylons.
Our advice is to be comfortable. I've found that stockings or pantyhose made of 100% nylon are not very breathable and can be torture to wear in the summer heat. If you feel more work appropriate in pantyhose, or just like the look of nylons, we suggest trying stretch stockings, thigh highs or pantyhose made with nylon and lycra. Feel sexy and comfortable despite the heat with breathable hosiery and save the 100% Nylons for Fall and Winter.
What do you think? Tell us in the comments!

AOL members want Nylon Stockings Back
By complete accident I ran across a great collection of 30 Things You Wish Could Make a Comeback on AOL.com this morning. Amongst things to be expected in 2008 like cheap gas and old fashioned MTV (you know, when they actually showed music videos 24/7) we were delighted to see that nylon stockings made the list.
Now, we at StockinGirl already know that nylon stockings are back and have been for a while. So with one of those 30 items checked off - which should comeback next? My favorites from the list are rotary phones, drive-in movie theaters, coke in glass bottles, CBS Radio Mystery Theater, and big wheels.
See all 30 items here.

Featured: on Trend de la Creme
We had a pleasant surprise this morning when reading the usual fashion blogs- our Isabel Wool Tights can be seen on the fabulous Trend de la Creme blog amongst other creative, beautiful tights.
Though the idea of wearing wool tights right now makes me sweat, I do love the idea of sheer printed thigh highs to add just a little something special to my summer outfits. I found this great example on Face Hunter:

Candid: from Just Glitter Lust
Though I'm not sure about the over-sized t-shirt and bike shorts, I love the bright tights combined with fantastic shoes. A perfect example of how open-toed shoes can work with tights. Image from: Just Glitter Lust. I'd wear them with a simple black dress.

Question RE: Shoes to Wear with Tights/Shorts combination
An email we received over the weekend asks: "What shoes would one wear with short shorts and tights?"
Ultimately, I think this all comes down to personal preference as well as the time of year and how dressed up you want to be. Any shoes that you would wear with a skirt/dress and tights would work with shorts as well. I, personally, would prefer boots or chunky shoes/heels (especially with thick tights, or heavily opaque ones) because thinner heels or open-toe shoes might look out of place with so much layering going on. However, as you can see above there are circumstances where open toed shoes can work. Particularly if you are wearing sheer pantyhose or solid opaque tights.
My suggestion is to take a look at color, pattern and the look you are going for and see what works best for you. Thin heeled boots or heels of any kind will make the look more dressed up. Flats or docs would dress it down to a more casual level.
Get more ideas with a quick flickr search like this one, or gain inspiration like the photo above, which we found over at Face Hunter.
